romance in media

6/21/25

everyone knows by now that romance in almost all media is inaccurate, unbelievable and overall would just never happen in real life, right? it's called fiction for a reason. i feel like that unrealisticness is part of the charm though... like sure, i won't get hit by a truck, transmigrated to another reality where i meet the love of my life and face the challenge of either going back to the real world or staying with my new partner. like yeah, that'll never happen, but it's still interesting to read about it happen to someone else, even if that person isn't real. i'm saying that romantic media has its own charm in its own way, even if it's weird or has its flaws. i probably won't ever fall in love, nor do i plan to, but who says i don't want to watch someone else fall in love? at the end of the day, it's not real, and it definitely never will be (or maybe it will? who am i to trample your hopes and dreams anyway...) but isn't the point of it to be an escape from reality? like i know you're not watching this show so you can be reminded of all the stuff that's waiting to be done in your life. even the more "realistic" situations are still interesting, because it's honestly really fun to observe how creators or writers will incorporate realistic settings, challenges, or situations into their creations. we all crave entertainment, so even if it's nothing like real life, it's still nice to see. i do have one issue though. just one. why is it that whenever characters are kissing or making out, they're always like "pmg i cant breathe!!!!!" LIKE BREATHE THROUGH YOUR NOSE. it can't just be me, can it?? i've always wondered that... i mean i've never kissed someone so i guess i wouldn't know, but still! is everyone a mouthbreather? what happened to using your nose for what it was made for? well whatever, it's never that deep anyway.

see u later~
