Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt, commonly abbreviated as PASWG or PSG is a comedy/ecchi anime that revolves around two angel sisters who were kicked out of heaven and sent to Daten City, Panty and Stocking, due to presumably unruly and inappropriate behavior. Now, the only way they can get back into heaven is by buying their way in, using heaven coins, which can only be gained by defeating ghosts. With the help of Garterbelt, these two angels must fight ghosts and gain enough heaven coins to successfully return to heaven. The show was created in 2010 by Gainax, and season 2 is being produced by Studio Trigger. The story follows Panty, a sex-obsessed angel, and her younger sister Stocking, a sugar addict.
adjust this page by zooming in/out if it looks weird! now we can get on to my monologue about this show! paswg is a big deal for me, because not only is it the show that got me into anime in the first place, but it also reminds me of the randomest & weirdest stuff i'd watch when i was younger. its also is a huge variable that constitutes towards my love of comedy (theres probably more to that though? Idk man...)i was honestly so happy when i rediscovered this show through that clip of panty cutting stockings hair on youtube, because id been thinking about the show for a while but completely forgot everything about it. anyway enough of that!!! i want to talk about how much i love this anime despite some uhhh... controversial content??? (We don't talk about the manga. or garterbelts design) the show tries to mimic western styled cartoons and honestly does a great job, like idk id rather watch this than half of the "adult cartoons" on hulu ngl.... like its actually funny, but somehow has a real plot despite being fully just a gag anime?? the character designs r also amazing like especially stockigns!!!! i honestly could have a whole shrine about her because i also love her!! panty too we cant leave her out haha.... with the release of season 2, it reminded me about how much i LOOOVEE this show, like no matter how many times i rewatch it i can never get bored of it! peak comedy, characters (For the most part?), not to mention the SOUNDTRAACKKK LIke okay!!! I SEE YOU!!! aaaand also a story, even if its a bit confusing. the unique style of this anime, and the feel/vibe of an old cartoon really adds to its charms, and its definitely part of the reason as to why i was so drawn to it. before i even thought about watching anime, i literally binged every cartoon you could imagine even as i got older. so finding a raunchy, cartoony anime was definitely exactly what i needed to actually start watching this type of media!
